Technology and equipment
The Nexo has an electric motor that is supplied with electrical energy by a fuel cell . The cell is the fourth generation of Hyundai. Their efficiency should be 60% and thus around 9% higher than that of the predecessor Hyundai ix35 FCEV . Their platinum content and thus the cost of the fuel cell could be reduced. Operating noises cannot be heard. The Nexo has three carbon fiber tanks of the same size in the vehicle floor, two in front of and one behind the rear axle. Refueling with hydrogen takes less than five minutes.
According to Hyundai, eleven percent eco-materials were used for the seat covers and the lining of the headliner.
The car is equipped with a navigation device , on-board computer , lane departure warning system , automatic parking assistant and a blind spot monitor with double camera.
A premium package can be selected for the extensive standard equipment and includes 19-inch alloy wheels, blind spot assistant with monitor display, around-view monitor, glass sliding roof, roof rails, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and a Krell sound system with eight loudspeakers.
The Nexo is intended for autonomous driving . Corresponding tests were successfully carried out up to level 4 on the route from Seoul to Pyeongchang.
In Euro NCAP - Crash test the vehicle in 2018 was rated with five stars out of five.
