The Hyundai i30 (GD) is the second generation of the Hyundai i30 passenger car model from the Korean car manufacturer Hyundai Motor Company , which was presented to the public in autumn 2011.

history

The five-door hatchback version was presented at the IAA in Frankfurt am Main in September 2011 and came onto the German market on March 23, 2012. The model replaced the previous i30 (FD) built since mid-2007 .
The i30 station wagon has been added to the range since June 2012. In February 2013, the model range was expanded to include a three-door hatchback version (referred to by Hyundai as a coupé ).

According to Hyundai, the i30 blue 1.6 CRDi should only consume 3.7 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers and emit 97 grams of CO 2 per kilometer. According to the Passenger Car Energy Consumption Labeling Ordinance, which has been in force since December 2011, this would currently correspond to the top rating A +.

Body styles

  • five-door hatchback (since October 2011)
  • five-door station wagon (since June 2012)
  • three-door hatchback ( Coupé , since February 2013)

Facelift

Hyundai i30 (since 2015)

In March 2015, the i30 was visually and technically revised.

Externally, the hexagonal grille was changed. The color palette has been expanded with “Polar White” and “Orange Caramel”. Depending on the model, new bi-xenon headlights are also available, which, according to Hyundai, should significantly improve illumination and ensure more safety. The design of the rear lights was also slightly modified.

In terms of assistance systems, the i30 now has a lane departure warning system and automatic parking. The lane departure warning system sounds the alarm as soon as the driver leaves the lane without blinking.

On the engine side, improvements have also been made: the basic unit with 1.4 l and 100 hp has been completely redeveloped and is therefore 14 kg lighter. According to Hyundai, the entry-level four-cylinder consumes 5.6 liters per 100 kilometers. There is also a renewed 1.6 CRDi with 136 HP and a 186 HP turbo gasoline engine as the top model of the series. A six-speed manual transmission takes over the power transmission as standard, a new 7-speed dual clutch transmission is available as an alternative for the two 1.6-liter diesel engines and the 1.6-liter GDI gasoline engine. This replaces the six-speed automatic.

technology

The car, developed under the internal abbreviation GD and initially built in South Korea, shares the floor pan and the technical base (identical diesel engines) with the Kia cee'd . The Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech produces the i30 in Nošovice ( Czech Republic ) and the vehicles get the model abbreviation GDH .

Furnishing

The Hyundai i30 is available in Germany in the equipment variants Classic , Trend and Style . The i30 Coupé, on the other hand, has its own model line. In Austria and Switzerland there are similar equipment variants with the names Europe , Europe Plus and Premium .
