The Hyundai Porter is a small van that is produced as a flatbed truck or chassis for bodies. The current generation is an in-house development, while the other generations were based on Mitsubishi Delica models. At times the Porter was also offered as the Dodge 100.
Hyundai HD 1000 (1977-1981)
The first generation of the Porter originally started in January 1977 as the Hyundai HD1000 and was based on the Mitsubishi Delica I. This model was built as a 12-seater minibus, 3-seater panel van and ambulance. A flatbed truck or chassis was given the name porter. Production of the HD1000 ceased in 1981.
Porter 2 (1986-1993)
The Porter II was launched in December 1986. It was based on the Mitsubishi Delica II which had just been replaced by a new model on the world market. The Porter II was now only available as a flatbed truck and a chassis for superstructures. The Hyundai Grace was now offered as a panel van / minibus , which in turn was based on the new Mitsubishi Delica model.
Porter 2, facelift (1993–1996)
In 1993 there was a facelift of the Porter II. A modified front with now round headlights were the external features. The steering wheel from the 1991 Hyundai Sonata and the dashboard from the Grace were the interior improvements. In addition to the normal cabin, there was now also a double cabin. The Cyclone D4BX engine, a replica of the Mitsubishi 4D56 2.5-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, moved in.
Porter 3 (since 1996)
Production of the third generation started in March 1996. The model called New Porter was now based on the Mitsubishi Delica III, like the Hyundai Grace. The model was available with a T-LSD engine that had an output of 80 hp. From 1997 this model was introduced in South Africa as the Hyundai Bakkie with a 58 HP diesel engine. In 2004 the production of the Porter 3 in South Korea ended. The model was produced as Hyundai Shehzore by the Pakistani company Dewan Farooque Motors from 1999 or 2000 to 2004 (or later) . Six months later, the Russian Taganrog automobile plant began production of the third generation of the Porter. The engine here is a 60 hp diesel version. Since the summer of 2008, the model has also been delivered from Russia to Malaysia as a CKD kit, where it is then assembled by the Malay Hyundai importer Inokom and sold as Inokom Lorimas .
