Company history

Following an announcement on December 17, 2004, the company announced that it wanted to build its own plant for the production of trucks. The city of Anápolis was chosen as the location . Up to 45,000 vehicles are to be built here every year. Around 600 million US $ were budgeted for the construction of the plant. Around 5,300 jobs were created at that time. Fiat Powertrain Technologies was responsible for the manufacture and delivery of the engines and has been building them in its factory at Sete Lagoas since then .

In April 2007, the plant started production of its first model, the HR . At another group meeting on December 17, 2008, it was decided to found two subsidiaries based in Cambui . The 179 existing dealerships were switched to the newly created dealer networks of Hyundai CAOA Interior Ltda. and the Hyundai CAOA Sud Ltda. divided up. It was also announced that production of the Tucson would start in February, as the model is still very popular in Brazil. Hyundai had already ceased production in Ulsan .

Two years later it became known that the company would like to expand its plant in Anápolis from May 2011 to increase the maximum annual capacity to 70,000 units. This should also make the production of two more models possible. In the future, the HD 78 and the ix35 will also be built here. The CAOA group has estimated an investment of 1.4 billion US $ for the expansion. A further 1,200 jobs will be created until the expansion is completed.
