Sete Lagoas , officially Portuguese Município de Sete Lagoas , German seven lakes , is a city in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais . It received city rights on November 30, 1880. In 2019, an estimated 239,639 people lived in Sete Lagoas on 537.5 km², which are called Sete-Lagoanos ( sete-lagoanos ). The distance to the capital Belo Horizonte is 67 km.
Surrounding places are Araçaí , Paraopeba , Caetanópolis , Inhaúma , Esmeraldas , Capim Branco , Prudente de Morais , Funilândia , Jequitibá and Baldim . It belongs to the extended metropolitan belt of the Belo Horizonte metropolitan region .
The biome is the Brazilian cerrado , the Köppen-Geiger climate classification is Aw . The annual average temperature in Sete Lagoas is 21.6 ° C, the precipitation averages 1335 mm per year. In the southern summer, Sete Lagoas has significantly more rainfall than in the southern winter.
