history
The diocese of Sete Lagoas was founded on July 16, 1955 by Pope Pius XII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Clementissimi Servatoris from cessions of territory from the Archdioceses of Belo Horizonte and Diamantina and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Belo Horizonte as a suffragan .
