José de Lima

José de Lima , also Dom José Lima , (born February 21, 1924 in Tiros , Minas Gerais ; † June 12, 2013 in Sete Lagoas , Minas Gerais) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Sete Lagoas in Brazil .

Life

José de Lima was ordained a priest on December 8, 1948 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on April 13, 1973 Bishop of Itumbiara . The Archbishop of Goiânia , Fernando Gomes dos Santos , donated him episcopal ordination on July 15 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Belchior Joaquim da Silva Neto CM , Bishop of Luz , and Antônio Ribeiro de Oliveira , Auxiliary Bishop in Goiânia. His motto was "In caritate" (In love) according to 1 Jn 4:16.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Sete Lagoas on June 7, 1981 .

José de Lima was particularly committed to education. He was one of the founders of the Colégio Estadual Pio X , where he was director and teacher of history and religion.

On October 27, 1999, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
