The diocese of Luz ( lat. : Dioecesis Luceatinus ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Luz in the state of Minas Gerais .

history

Pope Benedict XV founded the Diocese of Aterrado on July 18, 1918 with the Apostolic Constitution Romanis Pontificibus from territorial cessions of the Diocese of Uberaba and the Archdiocese of Mariana , to which it was also subordinated as a Suffragan Diocese . On February 1, 1924, it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Belo Horizonte .

It lost part of its territory on July 11, 1958 in favor of the establishment of the Diocese of Divinópolis . On December 5, 1960, it took on its current name.

The Diocese of Luz includes the communities Abaeté, Cedro do Abaeté, Arcos, Bambuí, Bom Despacho, Campos Altos, Capitólio, Córrego Danta, Tapiraí, Córrego Fundo, Dores do Indaiá, Doresópolis, Estrela do Indaiá, Serra da Saudade, Formiga, Iguatama Japaraíba, Lagoa da Prata, Luz, Medeiros, Moema, Morada Nova de Minas, Paineiras, Pains, Pimenta, Piumhi, Pratinha, Quartel Geral, Santa Rosa da Serra, Santo Antônio do Monte and Vargem Bonita of the state of Minas Gerais.
