The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Uberaba ( Latin Archidioecesis Uberabensis , Portuguese Arquidiocese de Uberaba ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Uberaba in the state of Minas Gerais .
history
The Archdiocese of Uberaba was established on September 29, 1907 by Pope Pius X with the Apostolic Constitution Goyaz Adamantina from cession of territory by the Diocese of Goiás as the Diocese of Uberaba . The diocese of Uberaba was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Mariana as a suffragan . On July 18, 1918, the Diocese of Uberaba gave up parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Aterrado . The diocese of Uberaba was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Belo Horizonte as a suffragan on February 1, 1924 . On March 1, 1929, the Diocese of Uberaba gave up parts of its territory to establish the Paracatu Territorial Prelature . Further assignments of territory took place on April 5, 1955 to found the Diocese of Patos de Minas and on July 22, 1961 to found the Diocese of Uberlândia .
On April 14, 1962, the diocese of Uberaba was by Pope John XXIII. raised to the archbishopric with the Apostolic Constitution Animorum societas . The Archdiocese of Uberaba gave up on October 16, 1962 parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Ituiutaba .
