The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Maringá ( Latin Archidioecesis Maringaënsis , Portuguese Arquidiocese de Maringá ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Maringa in the state of Paraná .

history

Pope Pius XII founded the Archdiocese with the Apostolic Constitution Latissimas partire Ecclesias on February 1, 1956 from cession of territory by the Diocese of Jacarezinho and it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Curitiba as a suffragan diocese. On January 20, 1968, it lost part of its territory to the Paranavaí diocese .

It became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Londrina on October 31, 1970 . With the Apostolic Constitution Quamquam est munus , it was elevated to the Metropolitan Archbishopric on October 16, 1979 .
