The Archdiocese of Sorocaba ( Latin Archidioecesis Sorocabana , Portuguese Arquidiocese de Sorocaba ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Sorocaba in the state of São Paulo .
history
Pope Pius XI founded the diocese of Sorocaba on July 4, 1924 with the Apostolic Constitution Ubi praesules from ceding territories of the dioceses of Botucatu , Taubaté and the Archdiocese of São Paulo , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan diocese. With the Bulle Brasilienses fideles it was raised to an archbishopric on April 29, 1992.
It lost parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:
- March 2, 1968 to the diocese of Itapeva ;
- April 15, 1998 to the diocese of Itapetininga .

The Archdiocese of Sorocaba includes the parishes of Sorocaba , Araçoiaba da Serra , Boituva , Cerquilho , Iperó , Jumirim , Piedade , Porto Feliz , Salto de Pirapora , Tapiraí , Tietê and Votorantim of the state of São Paulo.
