Tietê is a municipality in the Brazilian state of São Paulo . According to official estimates, 42,076 inhabitants lived in the municipality in 2019.
history
The first records of a populated place called Pirapora do Curuçá come from the records of the first missionaries, particularly José de Anchieta , who reported a ship accident in 1570. In 1747 there were 140 households here. In 1811 Pirapora do Curuçá became its own municipality. On March 8, 1842, the village was raised to Município before it was given its current name in 1867.
Sports
The football club Comercial Futebol Clube , founded in 1920, played in the sixth division, the Série B3 of the São Paulo State Championship ( Campeonato Paulista ) , until 2003 . The club then gave up professional sport and has been running youth departments and leisure teams ever since. The club's home stadium is the Estádio José Ferreira Alves , which can seat 4,500 people.
