José Melhado Campos

José Melhado Campos (born November 29, 1909 in Limeira , Brazil , † September 21, 1996 ) was Bishop of Sorocaba .

Life

José Melhado Campos received on 15 August 1934, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On May 29, 1960 Pope John XXIII appointed him . to the bishop of Lorena . The Archbishop of Botucatu , Henrique Golland Trindade OFM , donated him episcopal ordination on July 17th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of São Carlos , Ruy Serra , and the Bishop of Petrópolis , Manuel Pedro da Cunha Cintra .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on February 22, 1965 titular bishop of Hospita and coadjutor bishop of Sorocaba. Melhado Campos became Bishop of Sorocaba on January 8, 1973, succeeding the late José Carlos de Aguirre . On March 20, 1981, Pope John Paul II accepted the resignation put forward by José Melhado Campos.

José Melhado Campos participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
