José Carlos de Aguirre

José Carlos de Aguirre (born April 28, 1880 in Itaqueri da Serra , Itirapina , São Paulo , Brazil , † January 8, 1973 ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Sorocaba .

Life

José Carlos de Aguirre received on 8 December 1905, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On July 4, 1924, Pope Pius XI appointed him . the first bishop of the diocese of Sorocaba, established on the same date . The Archbishop of São Paulo , Duarte Leopoldo e Silva , donated him episcopal ordination on July 17th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of São Carlos do Pinhal , José Marcondes Homem de Melo , and the Bishop of Campinas , Francisco de Campos Barreto .

José Carlos de Aguirre led the diocese for almost five decades until his death. On February 22, 1965, Pope Paul VI presented him . but with José Melhado Campos a coadjutor bishop at his side.
