Talal Hawat

Talal Hawat ( Arabic طلال حواط, DMG Ṭalāl Ḥawāṭ ; * around 1970) is a Lebanese electrical engineer. From January to August 2020 he was Minister for Telecommunications in the Diab cabinet .

Live and act

Talal Hawat was a student at the Saint Elias Orthodox Secondary School in Tripoli. He received his master's degree in electrical engineering and electronics from San José State University (California). Hawat spent 19 years, eight of them in the USA, at the international network giant Cisco (1999-2018) before moving to the Canadian company Sandvine in 2019, where he was regional vice president. The company specializes in the development of the Internet's Smart Network . He has many years of experience in the installation of mobile phone networks in all Lebanese regions, worked with banking institutions in the Arab region. He is married to Shirine Assafiri and has three children.

On January 21, 2020, Hawat, representing the Sunni community and close to MP Faisal Karami, became miniter for telecommunications in Hassan Diab's cabinet .

After Hassan Diab resigned as Prime Minister on August 10, 2020, the Minister remained in office until a new cabinet was formed.
