José Marcondes Homem de Melo (born September 13, 1860 in Pindamonhangaba , São Paulo , Brazil , † October 15, 1937 ) was Bishop of São Carlos do Pinhal .

Life

Jose Marcondes Homem de Melo received on 11 March 1883, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On April 26, 1906, Pope Pius X appointed him Bishop of Belém do Pará . José Marcondes Homem de Melo became the first archbishop of Belém do Pará on May 1, 1906 as a result of the elevation of the diocese of Belém do Pará. Cardinal Secretary of State Rafael Cardinal Merry del Val donated him episcopal ordination on June 29 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of São Paulo , José de Camargo Barros , and the emeritus Bishop of Belém do Pará, Francisco do Rego Maia .

On December 6, 1906, Pope Pius X accepted the resignation put forward by José Marcondes Homem de Melo and appointed him titular Archbishop of Ptolemais in Phenicia . Marcondes Homem de Melo became the first bishop of São Carlos do Pinhal on August 9, 1908. The inauguration took place on November 22nd of the same year.
