Area description

The NSG is a valley area of the Antlenbach. The Bachtal is predominantly occupied by grassland and forest communities of moist to wet locations. The wet forests are brook-alder-ash forest and alder-swamp forest. Hainsimsen-beech forest stands on the lower slopes. There are wet grassland communities in the grassland.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the preservation and development of a valley area and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
