Dörscheln nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dörscheln nature reserve is a 1.99 ha nature reserve north of the village of Dörscheln in the municipality of Kierspe in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 2003 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 7 Kierspe .

Area description

The NSG is a hill spring moor. In the eastern part of the NSG there is a swampy birch forest rich in pipe grass and peat moss. In the north-western area there are open moor areas, which in sections merge into wet heather. Adjacent to the south is a wet pasture rich in seepage springs.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species for the maintenance and development of a moorland with grassland. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
