The Steinsmark nature reserve is a 0.80 hectare nature reserve north of Meinerzhagen airfield in the municipality of Kierspe in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 2003 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 7 Kierspe . To the east, in the area of Meinerzhagen, is the nature reserve of the same name . In the west of the NSG, the municipality of Marienheide borders in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne .

Area description

The NSG is a heather, as well as wet and damp meadow areas.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated "for the preservation, restoration and optimization of a heather and wet and wet meadow areas, as well as a habitat for numerous endangered plant and animal communities". As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.

With the prohibitions u. a. listed "to convert the heathland as well as the wet and wet meadow areas into another use".
