Nature reserve on the great break

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nature reserve on the large break is a 2.73 hectare nature reserve (NSG) east of the federal motorway 45 in the municipality of Kierspe in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 2003 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 7 Kierspe . NSG is directly on the A 45.

Area description

The NSG is a sloping moor sloping slightly to the west with wet forests consisting of swamp birch and alder swamp forest and a near-natural beech stand. In the hillside moor there is typical moorland vegetation. There is an area with juniper bushes. Water is withdrawn from the moor by a ditch that flows directly on the motorway. In large areas that have been severely dried out, a light pipe grass- birch forest has emerged.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the preservation and development of a sloping bog and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
