Kierspetal nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kierspetal nature reserve is a 22.82 hectare nature reserve (NSG) in the municipality of Kierspe in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 2003 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 7 Kierspe . The NSG consists of five sub-areas.

Area description

The NSG consists of near-natural valley areas of the Kierspe, the Lammecke, the Hemecke and an unnamed Siepen. The stream valleys are mainly occupied by forest and grassland communities of damp to wet locations. Forest areas with brook-alder-ash forest, white willow alluvial forest and ash-alluvial forest fragments are located in the NSG. A pond with a silting zone is also part of the NSG.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the preservation and development of valley areas and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
