Stubach valley nature reserve

The Stubach-Tal nature reserve is a 1.72 hectare nature reserve (NSG) in the municipality of Kierspe in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 2003 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 7 Kierspe .

Area description

The NSG is the grassland-shaped Stubaches spring basin. In grassland are damp and wet grassland. Lean grassland areas of a dry nature appear on the slopes. In the west of the area there are several species protection waters that are overgrown by red alder.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the preservation and development of a brook valley with floodplain and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
