Hemecketal nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hemecketal nature reserve is a 6.75 hectare nature reserve (NSG) in the municipality of Kierspe in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 2003 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 7 Kierspe .

Area description

The NSG is a valley area of the Hemecketal and the Schmittensiepen. The Bachtal is predominantly occupied by grassland communities of damp to wet locations. Forest areas with brook-alder-ash forest and poor pastures are also in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the preservation and development of valley areas and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
