Erlenbach Valley nature reserve

The nature reserve Erlenbach-Tal is a 2.72 hectare nature reserve (NSG) in the municipality of Kierspe in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 2003 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 7 Kierspe .

Area description

The NSG is the near-natural middle course of the Erlenbach and the tributary of the Kolthofsiepen. The valley area is clearly delimited by terraces and the grassland contains wet and wet grassland.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the preservation and development of a brook valley with floodplain and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
