Hermsbrock nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hermsbrock nature reserve is a 12.18 hectare nature reserve (NSG) in the municipality of Kierspe in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 2003 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 7 Kierspe .

Area description

The NSG is a forest-moor biotope complex and a hillside spring moor with moor birch swamp forest. In the spring-rich hardwood complex there are brook-alder-ash forest and grove- beech forest.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the preservation and development of a forest-moor-biotope complex and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
