José de Camargo Barros

José de Camargo Barros (born April 24, 1858 in São Paulo , Brazil , † August 4, 1906 ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of São Paulo .

Life

José de Camargo Barros was ordained a deacon of the diocese of São Paulo on September 10, 1882 . He received on 11 March 1883, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On January 16, 1894, Pope Leo XIII appointed him . the first bishop of the diocese of Curitiba established two years earlier . The Cardinal Chamberlain of the Holy Roman Church , Lucido Maria Parocchi , donated him episcopal ordination on June 24 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Goiás , Eduardo Duarte e Silva , and the Coadjutor Bishop of São Paulo, Joaquim Arcoverde de Albuquerque Cavalcanti . The inauguration took place on September 30, 1894.

Pope Pius X appointed him bishop of São Paulo on November 9, 1903. The inauguration took place on April 24, 1904.
