The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manaus ( Latin Archidioecesis Manaënsis , Portuguese Arquidiocese de Manaus ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Manaus in the state of Amazonas .

The Archdiocese of Manaus was on April 27, 1892 by Pope Leo XIII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Ad universas orbis from cessions of territory of the diocese of Belém do Pará as the diocese of Amazonas . The diocese of Amazonas was subordinated to the archbishopric of São Salvador da Bahia as a suffragan . On May 1, 1906, the Amazonian diocese was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Belém do Pará as a suffragan. The diocese of Amazonas gave up parts of its territory on August 15, 1907 to establish the territorial abbey of Nossa Senhora do Monserrate do Rio de Janeiro . On May 23, 1910, the Amazonian diocese gave up parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefectures Alto Solimões and Tefé . Further territories were ceded on December 15, 1915 to found the Caratinga diocese and on October 4, 1919 to found the Acre e Purus territorial prelature . The diocese of Amazonas gave up parts of its territory on May 1, 1925 to establish the territorial prelatures Porto Velho and Lábrea .

On February 16, 1952, the diocese of Amazonas by Pope Pius XII. raised to an archbishopric with the Apostolic Constitution Ob illud and renamed the Archdiocese of Manaus . The Archdiocese of Manaus gave up parts of its territory on July 12, 1955 to establish the Territorial Prelature Parintins . Another assignment of territory took place on June 26, 1961 to establish the Territorial Prelature Humaitá . On July 13, 1963, the Archdiocese of Manaus gave up parts of its territory to establish the territorial prelatures Borba , Coari and Itacoatiara .
