The Diocese of Parintins ( Latin Dioecesis Parintinensis , Portuguese Diocese de Parintins ) is a in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Parintins in the state of Amazonas .
history
Pope Pius XII founded the territorial prelature Parintins on July 12, 1955 from territorial cessions of the Archdiocese of Manaus . On July 13, 1963 it gave up parts of its territory for the establishment of the territorial prelature Borba . John Paul II elevated it to a diocese on October 30, 1980, which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Manaus as a suffragan .
