João Irineu Joffily (born May 24, 1878 in Campina Grande , Brazil , † April 25, 1950 ) was Archbishop of Belém do Pará .

Life

João Irineu Joffily received on 17 February 1901, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On August 18, 1914 appointed him Pope Pius X to the titular bishop of Sufetula and Coadjutor Bishop of Olinda . The Archbishop of Olinda, Luís Raimundo da Silva Brito , donated him episcopal ordination on June 13, 1915 ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Belém do Pará, Santino Maria da Silva Coutinho , and the Bishop of Cajazeiras , Moisés Sizenando Coelho .

Pope Benedict XV appointed him on May 4, 1916 Bishop of the Amazon . The inauguration took place on October 15 of the same year. On March 27, 1924, Pope Pius XI appointed him . to the Archbishop of Belém do Pará. The inauguration took place on January 23, 1925.

On May 1, 1931, Pius XI. the resignation put forward by João Irineu Joffily and appointed him titular Archbishop of Anasartha .
