Betsy Baker (born May 8, 1955 in Cedar Rapids , Iowa ) is an American actress and singer . She became famous for her role as Linda in the 1981 horror film Dance of the Devil .

Life

Betsy Baker was born on May 8, 1955 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She grew up in St. Joseph , where she took piano lessons as well as singing and dancing from the age of five. Baker graduated from Michigan State University and then performed with a vocal group called Musicana in several states, including the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami . After her time with the dance group, she settled in Detroit , where she took acting classes.

Baker played her first film role in 1981 in the television production Word of Honor . In the same year she was discovered by the director and producer Sam Raimi , who cast her in the role of Linda in the horror film Dance of the Devils . It would be Baker's most famous role. She declined a planned appearance in the sequel Tanz der Teufel II - Now is danced more because of the birth of her daughter.

After she starred in the 1990 television film Appearances , Baker quit her acting career to devote herself to her family. In 2007 she returned to the film business with a role in Witches' Night . She has since appeared primarily as a star guest in television series, including in individual episodes of True Blood , New Girl , Ray Donovan and American Horror Story . In 2013, Baker made a cameo in The Fantastic World of Oz . In 2018 she played the role of Jocelyn Vickery in four episodes of Sharp Objects and was seen as Janice in two episodes of Shameless .
