Mistresses is an American television series broadcast by ABC . It is a remake of the British original Mistresses - From the lust and passion of the broadcaster BBC One . The leading roles include Alyssa Milano and Kim Yoon-jin . The series is about four girlfriends who hide their private lives from the public because they are caught in a web of betrayal and deception. It first aired in the United States on June 3, 2013 on ABC.
On September 9, 2016, it was announced that the series would be discontinued after the fourth season.
action
The series revolves around four friends Savannah Davis, April Malloy, Karen Kim and Josslyn Carver, who are in their thirties and struggling with their partners. They all grapple with secrets, betrayal, betrayal, and complex relationships into which they have maneuvered themselves. But their friendship gives them support and advice.
Savannah Davis is a successful lawyer who wants to have a child with her Australian husband Harry. She tries desperately to get pregnant, but fails. When she meets her work colleague Dominic, she immediately feels drawn to him.
Savannah's younger sister Josslyn Carver rushes from one affair and party to the next, which is why she keeps clashing with Savannah. She has never had many girlfriends as she always had sex with their partners. One day, working as a real estate agent, she meets her client Alex and starts a lesbian affair with her.
Their best friend, April Malloy, is a widow and mother of ten-year-old Lucy. She is in the process of rebuilding her life after her husband is killed. She decides to open a shop for decorative items. When she gets her husband's life insurance, she is sure that he is still alive.
Karen Kim is a therapist in her own flourishing practice. But she is haunted by a dark secret from her past: She had an affair with the terminally ill Thomas Gray, to whom she has prescribed morphine. After his death she meets Thomas' son Sam, who is looking for answers for his father's death. Even Thomas' widow Elisabeth has no idea that her late husband had a romance with another woman.
production
In 2008 the television station Lifetime commissioned a pilot episode for Mistresses , in which Rochelle Aytes had already played. However, the project was not pursued any further. Finally, in February 2012, ABC announced the production of a first season of 13 episodes of Mistresses without a pilot having been produced beforehand.
Casting began in March 2012. One of the first roles was assigned to Kim Yoon-jin. Other leading roles went to Rochelle Aytes and Jes Macallan . The last female leading role went to Alyssa Milano in late March 2013. Jason George and Brett Tucker were also cast in leading roles that same day . In late September 2013, ABC announced that a second season would go into production.
Due to austerity measures, the filming location of the series for the third season was relocated from Los Angeles, California, to Vancouver, Canada. The leading actress Alyssa Milano then left the series because the necessary move could not be reconciled with her family life.
At the end of September 2015 a fourth season was ordered, in this season Jennifer Esposito , who only joined the main cast in the third season, was no longer there.
occupation
Sabine Sebastian was responsible for the German version , who directed the dialogue and wrote the German dubbing book together with Karin Lehmann . The dubbing was done in the dubbing company Deutsche Synchron in Berlin .
