Navid Negahban (born June 2, 1968 in Mashhad , Iran ) is an Iranian - American actor . He became known through the television series 24 and Homeland .

life and career

Negahban first came into contact with the theater at the age of eight and earned audiences applause for his portrayal of an old man. He left Iran at the age of 20 and moved to Turkey and later to Germany , where he lived for almost nine years. He worked at the theater in Germany and moved to the USA in 1993. Negahban is fluent in English , Persian , Dari and German . He has been an actor since 2000, mainly for television. He has appeared on series such as The Shield , The West Wing , Lost and CSI: Miami . He lends his voice to the crazy doctor Challus Mercer in the video game Dead Space . He gained great fame through his role in Homeland . In 2011 he won the Acting Award for the Iranian short film Liberation at the Noor Iranian Film Festival , in 2012 he was the official festival jury member.
