Baba Joon (Hebrew באבא ג'ון) is an Israeli film drama by Yuval Delshad from the year 2015. It won the Ophir Award for Best Picture of 2015. The film was Israel's contribution in the category Best International film for the Oscars in 2016 , was but not nominated by the Academy .

The film tells the story of a Jewish - Iranian family of three generations in an agricultural settlement in the Negev , to which all residents from Iran immigrated. Jitzchak runs a turkey stable that he took over from his father. His 13-year-old son Moti is supposed to take over the company one day, but is not interested in poultry and prefers to be a car mechanic instead. The unexplained future of the company and a visit from Jitzchak's brother from the USA exacerbate the already existing tensions between the immigrant (parents and grandparents) and the Israeli-born generations.
Awards
The film won five categories at the 2015 Ophir Awards, including Best Picture . It was nominated for an Oscar by Israel in the category of best foreign language film , but did not make it onto the shortlist.
