Mike Dopud

Mike Dopud (born June 10, 1968 in Montreal , Québec ) is a Canadian former Canadian football professional, actor and stuntman .

Life

Dopud grew up as the son of a Serbian immigrant family who left Yugoslavia in the early 1960s . He played college football at Southern Illinois University and then as a professional with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League and with Birmingham Fire in the World League of American Football . However, his career was ended by a knee injury. He then changed the sport and played ice hockey at Columbus Chill in the East Coast Hockey League .

From the mid-1990s he began to work as a stuntman, initially on various television series such as Outer Limits - The Unknown Dimension , Stargate - Kommando SG-1 and Viper . He quickly got smaller supporting roles in series and feature films . As a stuntman, he worked on the action films I, Robot , Fantastic Four and X-Men: The Last Stand . He had major film roles as Detective Smits in the horror film White Noise alongside Michael Keaton and as Agent Turner alongside Christian Slater in Alone in the Dark .

Dopud appeared in three different series from the Stargate universe. He had guest appearances in 2005 in Stargate - Kommando SG-1 and in 2008 in Stargate Atlantis . From 2010 to 2011 he had the recurring guest role of Varro in Stargate Universe . He had other recurring guest roles between 2005 and 2009 as Crewman Specialist Gage in Battlestar Galactica and from 2006 to 2009 as Security Guard George in Smallville .

Dopud is married to the actress Angela Schneider.
