Rollerball is a remake from 2002 of the film of the same name from 1975. Unlike the model from the 1970s, the film puts more emphasis on action and has less social and political tones. The film takes place in the present rather than in a dystopian future as in the original . There have Pink , Shane McMahon , and Slipknot cameos. The film opened in German cinemas on March 28, 2002.
action
2005: The new sport rollerball is very popular in the Soviet states of Central Asia , Russia , China , Mongolia and Turkey . Marcus Ridley invites NHL hope Jonathan Cross to play for the Zhambel Horsemen in Kazakhstan . The highly paid players have to deal with poorly paid, local players who are usually injured several times in the game. Rollerball is an exceptionally brutal expansion of the Roller Derby game with motorcycles, a metal ball and a wrestling league . The team quickly developed into a size of the league and promoter Alexis Petrovich's darling, Jonathan, was attracted to the dynamic game, the hype and his teammate Aurora.
But Jonathan gradually discovers that the cynical Alexis and his opportunistic assistant, Sanjay, would give anything to manipulate a game into a bloodthirsty spectacle in order to increase the audience.
criticism
“Remake of the commercially successful film of the same name from 1974/1975, staged as unimaginative as it is sloppy. A film without a lot of mental effort, but with a tendency to dull glorification of violence and latent racist distortions. "
