Taurus Award
The Taurus Award (also: World Stunt Awards ) is an American film award for stunt scenes. It does not honor actors for their achievements, but rather stunt people or stunt teams for particularly good, spectacular stunts and their staging .
history
The Taurus Award was initiated by Dietrich Mateschitz and has been awarded annually since 2001 - mostly in May - by the Taurus World Stunt Awards Foundation , which was founded to provide financial security for stunt people who had an accident while working. Since the Taurus Awards 2003 , not only US film productions but also foreign productions have received awards. The annual award was suspended once in 2006. The first two ceremonies were held in Santa Monica instead Barker Hangar, then one was Backlot of Paramount Pictures selected as the venue.
The Austrian beverage manufacturer Red Bull is the main sponsor of the Taurus Award.

The Taurus Award is a bronze statue about 80 cm high and weighing about 12 kg. The statue was created by the Austrian artist Jos Pirkner . It represents a person with a bull's head and wings. A certain similarity to the Oscar is intended.

Records
With 21 different film nominations, the 2015 Taurus Awards had the lowest number of nominated films. This even undercuts the Taurus Awards 2003 and Taurus Awards 2013 , each with 22 different film nominations. At the Taurus Awards 2008 , with 31 different films, more different film productions were nominated than in any other year.
The film Rush Hour 2 could collect the most nominations at the Taurus Awards 2002 , which was nominated a total of nine times. With five awards, The Fast and the Furious received the most Taurus Awards in the history of this film award at the same ceremony.
At the Taurus Awards 2002 , the awards were given in most of the categories with 13 categories. Since the Taurus Awards 2013 , the stunt people have only been honored in seven categories.
The categories for the award of the best water stunt, aerial stunt, stunt driver, animal stunt, stunt coordinator for an action scene or film were only celebrated at the first two events, which is why these are among the rarest categories. Most frequently, namely in all events so far, nominations were made in the categories of the best fight scene, stunt in height, vehicle stunt and special stunt.
Jophery Brown is the only stuntman who has not only received a Taurus Lifetime Achievement Award, but has also previously received an award in the Best Vehicle Stunt category at the 2004 Taurus Awards for a stunt scene in Bad Boys II .
action concept was the only film production company in the world to receive the Taurus World Stunt Award ten times in Los Angeles between 2003 and 2017.
The German action series Alarm für Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei has already received the trophy eight times (out of 10 nominations) in the category of best stunt in a foreign film at the Taurus Awards .
