Gale Anne Hurd (born October 25, 1955 in Los Angeles ) is an American film producer .

Life

Hurd made her cinema debut as co-producer of Roger Corman in 1981 with the film The Totally Crazy Highway Police (original title Smokey Bites the Dust ). Shortly thereafter, she produced the successful film Terminator . Together with the director of the film James Cameron , she wrote the script, for which the two received the Saturn Award in 1985. She later filmed Aliens , Abyss, and Tremor , followed by LA Witch Hunt , Safe Passage , The Spirit and Darkness and I Love Dick .

Since 2010 she has mainly worked for television and is involved as an executive producer on series such as The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead .

From 1984 to 1989 she was married to James Cameron, whom she met while working on Terminator . She was married to Brian De Palma between 1991 and 1993 and has one daughter. She has been married to screenwriter Jonathan Hensleigh since 1995 .

Prizes and awards (selection)

At the Taurus Awards 2003 she received the Action Movie Producer Award. In 1993 and 2004 she received the President's Award from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films . In 2012 she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .
