Betty throws Dr. David Banner pretends to have given his son fear of life on his way through his experiments. Dr. Banner, on the other hand, is bitter because he lost his job through Betty's father and could no longer develop a cure for his son; while trying to kill his son to prevent further harm, he accidentally killed his wife when she was trying to protect her son.

When Glenn tries to do a biopsy on Bruce in order to profit from his transformative abilities, Bruce transforms himself again into the Hulk; Glenn is killed in his rampage. The Hulk is hunted by the military on his escape through the desert. When he arrives in San Francisco, only the sight of Betty can appease him; he transforms back into Bruce.

General Ross confronts Bruce and David Banner. Dr. David Banner realizes that he can not convince his son to help him and takes the energy from a power line and turns into an electrical monster; Bruce takes on him as the Hulk. A lightning strike teleports them into the middle of the desert, where the duel continues. David Banner tries to use his new superpowers to absorb the gamma powers of his son - but he hadn't considered the traumatic memories he has to receive in the process.

Both are believed dead after General Ross orders a gamma bomb to be dropped.
