David Hayter

David Bryan Hayter (* 6. February 1969 in Santa Monica , California ) is an American voice actor , actor , screenwriter and film director . He is best known for the voice of Solid Snake and later also of Naked Snake (Big Boss) in the video game series Metal Gear , which can also be heard in the German versions (except for Metal Gear Solid , which was re-dubbed for localization).

Life

Hayter was born to Canadian parents. He started acting at the age of 9. He performed live more than 20 years later in the early 1990s, but his interest in voice acting soon grew after a cameo on an episode of the sitcom Major Dad, and in 1994 he got the speaking role of Captain America in the animated series Spider- Man . In 1998 he took on the role of Solid Snake , for which he became known worldwide in the gaming community due to his distinctive, deep and gruff voice. His first vocal role was Arsène Lupine in the English version of the anime film The Castle of Cagliostro in 1979. He wrote the screenplay for X-Men , the comic adaptation Watchmen - The Guardians of Zack Snyder and was also co-author of the screenplay for X-Men 2 . In 2014 he made his debut as a feature film director with Wolves .
