Pirkner's work mostly deals with human figures. He designed figures for a fountain in Wattens , a fountain on Sparkassenplatz in Innsbruck or the grave for Julien Green , who had asked Pirkner to design his grave. The artist also worked on sculptures of horses and bulls. In Munster, for example, he created the Lower Saxony Fountain, which was unveiled on October 20, 1991 and with eight horses, which symbolize the eight former independent communities of Munster, is considered the largest work of art in the city to date. In 2014, Pirkner completed the “Bulls of Fuschl” at the Red Bull headquarters in Fuschl am See ( Land Salzburg ). With a length of more than 22 meters, this herd of 14 larger than life bulls is considered the largest bronze sculpture in Europe.
