Gert Ammann (* 1943 in Bregenz ) is an Austrian art historian .

Life

Gert Ammann studied art history at the University of Innsbruck and received his doctorate there in 1968. From 1968 he worked at the Tyrolean State Museum Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck. Ammann completed his habilitation in Austrian art history in 1983. From 1985 to 2005 he was director of the Tyrolean State Museum.
