Samir Saliji (born March 3, 1984 in Nitra , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Nitra in the Slovak extra league since 2008 . His brother Garip is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Samir Saliji began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HK Nitra , for whose professional team he was active in the Slovak extra league from 2001 to 2003 . He then played for a year for the Des Moines Buccaneers in the North American junior league United States Hockey League . For the 2004/05 season , the winger initially returned to Nitra in the Extraliga, but ended the season again with the Buccaneers in the USHL.

From 2005 to 2010 Saliji was in the Extraliga for his ex-club HK Nitra and HC Dukla Trenčín on the ice. At the same time he played for HK Levice and Lokomotiva N. Zamky in the second-class first division . For the 2010/11 season , the former international junior player received a trial contract with the newly founded HC Lev Poprad from the Continental Hockey League . Since this did not start the game, Saliji returned to HK Nitra.

International

For Slovakia , Saliji took part in the U18 Junior World Championship in 2002 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 2003 .
