action

Sara is a young, attractive woman who recently got her pilot's license . Your father, a colonel , doesn't know anything about it. Sara keeps it a secret from him, because her mother, who was also a pilot, crashed and died on a flight with a small-engine plane together with the Taylor couple and their son due to a collision with another aircraft.

Without her father's knowledge, Sara rents a plane to take her friends Mel, Cory, Sal and Bruce to a concert 90 minutes away by plane. Bruce is extremely scared, Sal, on the other hand, is the exact opposite and already drinks beer en masse before departure. After the instrument check and the approval of the tower , the group takes off. Bruce, who is in love with Sara, brings the first unrest to the plane because of his anxiety. The flight goes smoothly, with the drunken Sal becoming abusive more and more often. He snatches a comic book from Bruce and partially tears it up.

When Sara lets Bruce take the helm to calm him down, a screw loosens that jams the elevator . Since Sara only has a license for visual flight and therefore always has to keep an eye on the ground, a sudden thunderstorm front is a big problem. Due to the jammed elevator, only a climb is possible, and so the machine gets bigger and bigger in the middle of the thunderstorm Heights. Panic breaks out and Sara becomes more and more insecure. She suspects they are too heavy and orders that luggage be thrown off the plane. Sal is sure that she saw something strange outside of the plane. But even this measure does not improve the situation. There are open arguments, with Bruce being tied up because he becomes hysterical . In addition, Sara notices that the gasoline only lasts for an hour. Sal and Cory decide to fix the elevator by having Cory roped up onto the tail of the plane. Cory can repair it, but is catapulted far behind the machine by strong turbulence. The rope wraps around Sal's neck, who cuts it in a panic and leaves Cory to certain death. He informs the others that the rope has broken.

Bruce is revealed to be the Taylors' little boy who survived the crash of Sara's mother's plane. He thinks he and Sara are meant to be together. Suddenly a tentacle takes hold of Mel and pulls her outside. In the ensuing dispute, Sal is also pulled from the plane. Bruce finds out that the exact story told in his comic book is playing out. Whenever he's scared, whatever he imagines happens. As the plane is heading straight for a giant octopus, Sara kisses him to take his fear away. Then normality follows in a bright blue sky. But strangely enough, the plane with the Taylors and Sara's mother as a pilot appears in front of them. Sara can just dodge, but then crashes.

Bruce and Sara find themselves as young children in the past. Sara's mother has landed safely with the Taylors, and Bruce and Sara take hands.

criticism

"Conventional disaster film scenario with people who all have the usual neuroses or sympathy points that the genre requires."

“More a mystery thriller à la“ Twilight Zone ”than the usual disaster horror is this competently made and also quite exciting Cessna horror chamber game in the black cloud of death. The original resolution of a story whose twists and turns and ideas shouldn't always be put on the logic gold scales, solid B-movie action and drama as well as a few pretty faces from relatively well-known teen TV series in the lead roles make for an overall quite entertaining one Total package. Definitely a tip for mystery fans. "
