Bulletproof Monk - The bulletproof monk (original title: Bulletproof Monk ) is an American action film from 2003 . The premiere took place on April 16, 2003 in the USA .
action
For 60 years a mysterious, unnamed monk has been protecting an ancient scroll that contains the key to unlimited power. In search of a suitable keeper, according to the prophecy, he meets a street boy named Kar in America. The monk believes that he is the chosen one who is worthy to carry the scroll from now on. When the monk tries to let the unwilling Kar into the secrets of a guard, his old adversary, the Nazi henchman Strucker, appears and puts the dissimilar couple in mortal danger.
Reviews
The comic of the same name by Michael Avon Oeming served as a template . However, the film leaves out numerous details (such as glimpses of Kar's childhood, the rise of Strucker or what name the monk used to have). Many fans of the comic were disappointed with the film adaptation.
“No frills staged martial arts film without any deeper subject matter. The bizarre plot only offers the occasion for a few acrobatic fight scenes. "
Trivia
- The film was shot on a budget of $ 52 million but only grossed $ 23.4 million in the United States.
- The filming of Tibet actually took place in Canada as it was very difficult to get permits to film in Tibet.
