The series revolves around four friends Katie Roden, Trudi Malloy, Jessica Fraser and Siobhan Dhillon, who are all in their thirties and have problems with their partners.
As a doctor, Katie falls in love with her terminally ill patient John. When he dies, she starts an affair with Sam, John's son. He knew about his father's affair and looked for Katie. Trudi has been single since the death of her husband, who died in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 , and is now trying to get her life under control together with her two children. The third member, Siobhan, is a lawyer and tries desperately to get pregnant with her husband Hari, but they never succeed. One day she meets Dominic and puts their relationship to the test. The fourth friend, Jessica, is a nymphomaniac and incapable of relationships. She has an affair with her boss and doesn't believe in love until one day at a wedding she falls in love with Alex the bride and has sex with her.
