Anna Torv (born June 7, 1979 in Melbourne , Victoria ) is an Australian actress , best known for the role of FBI agent Olivia Dunham from the US television series Fringe . She also works as a spokesperson for film, television and computer games.

Life

Torv and her brother grew up with their parents on the Gold Coast in Queensland . Her father is of Estonian descent. Her paternal aunt is the writer Anna Maria Torv Murdoch-Mann , who was married to billionaire Rupert Murdoch for 31 years .

Torv attended Benowa State High and graduated from the prestigious National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Kensington with an acting degree in 2001 with a degree in performing arts . Torv initially worked as an actress at the theater. A year later, she made her comrade debut with a supporting role in the Australian police series Young Lions ; further film and television assignments followed. From 2008 to 2013 she starred in the television series Fringe - Borderline Cases by the FBI .

Torv married her fellow actor Mark Valley in December 2008 , who also starred in the first season of the series Fringe . In April 2010 it was announced that they were living separately.

In an episode of the miniseries The Pacific , Torv played actress Virginia Gray . She enlivened the main character in the computer game Heavenly Sword through motion capture recordings.

In 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 she was awarded a Saturn Award for Best Actress for her role in Fringe . From 2009 to 2012 she also received a nomination for the Teen Choice Award .
