Frederico Benício de Souza e Costa ECMC (born October 18, 1875 in Vila Alboim , Pará , Brazil , † March 26, 1948 ) was Bishop of the Amazon .

Life

Frederico Benício de Souza e Costa received on April 1, 1899, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On September 22, 1904, Pope Pius X appointed him first prelate of Santarém . Pius X appointed him Bishop of Amazon on January 8, 1907. The Prefect of the Congregation De Propaganda Fide , Girolamo Maria Cardinal Gotti OCD , ordained him episcopal on March 19 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the bishop emeritus of Belém do Pará , Francisco do Rêgo Maia , and the bishop emeritus of São Luís do Maranhão , Antônio Xisto Albano . The inauguration took place on June 2 of the same year.

Pope Pius X accepted on April 16, 1914 the resignation put forward by Frederico Benício de Souza e Costa and appointed him titular bishop of Thubunae in Numidia . In 1915 Frederico Benício de Souza e Costa joined the order of the Camaldolese . In 1937 he renounced the titular diocese of Thubunae in Numidia.
