The Diocese of Alto Solimões ( Latin Dioecesis Solimões Superioris , Portuguese Diocese de Alto Solimões ) is a in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Tabatinga in the state of Amazonas .
history
Pope Pius X. founded the Apostolic Prefecture Alto Solimões with the Apostolic Constitution Laeti animo on May 23, 1910 from cession of territory by the diocese of Amazonas . It was elevated to a territorial prelature on August 11, 1950 .
With the bull Constat praelaturam it was elevated to a diocese on August 14, 1991, which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Manaus as a suffragan .
