The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Londrina ( lat. : Archidioecesis Londrinensis ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Londrina in the state of Paraná .

history

The Archdiocese of Londrina was founded on February 1, 1956 by Pope Pius XII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Latissimas partire from cessions of territory of the diocese Jacarezinho as diocese Londrina . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Curitiba as a suffragan . On November 28, 1964, the diocese of Londrina gave up parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Apucarana .

On October 31, 1970, the Diocese of Londrina by Pope Paul VI. raised to the archbishopric with the Apostolic Constitution Aeternae animorum . In 1973 it received an auxiliary bishop for the first time , who supported the then Archbishop Geraldo Fernandes Bijos in his work.

More than 3 million Catholics currently live in the Archdiocese of Londrina, divided into 75 parishes (as of 2012).
