The Roman Catholic Diocese of Coari ( Latin Dioecesis Coaritana , Portuguese Diocese de Coari ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Coari in the state of Amazonas .

history

The Territorial Prelature Coari ( Latin : Territorialis Praelatura Coaritana ) was on July 13, 1963 by Pope Paul VI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Ad Christi from cession of territory of the Archdiocese of Manaus and subordinated to this as a suffragan .

On October 9, 2013, Pope Francis elevated the territorial prelature to a diocese. The previous prelate Marek Marian Piątek CSsR became the first diocesan bishop.
